Tools and Ingredients
- Air fryer
- 2 lbs. chicken wings
- 5 Tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup sriracha sauce
- 1 lime
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
Mince or crush the garlic cloves.
Juice and zest the lime.
Prepare your spicy sauce by combining the garlic, lime juice, lime zest, ground cumin, olive oil, sriracha sauce, and honey. Whisk with a fork to make sure it’s well mixed.
Prepare your chicken wings by cutting off the tips and separating the drummettes and flats.
Keep a small amount of the sauce, pour the remaining sauce mixture over the wings and toss until they are well-coated.
Set the air fryer’s temperature to 360°F. Set the timer for 10 minutes and let it cook.
After 10 minutes, flip the wings over. Set the timer for another 10 minutes and resume cooking.
When the 10 minutes are up, flip the wings again. Brush the tops of the wings with some of the reserved sauce mix. Set the timer for 5 more minutes and let it cook again.
Check the wings. If they are browned and crisp, they’re ready to enjoy. If not they may need up to 5 more minutes.
Tips and Considerations
Optionally, finish your wings off with some fresh minced cilantro for a nice touch. If you’re a big cilantro lover, you can also add some minced cilantro to the sriracha sauce mix before cooking. You can also serve the wings with lime wedges, as a fresh squeeze of lime on top complements the heat of the wings quite well.
If you’re all about the spicy and don’t need any sweet to balance it, feel free to skip the honey. The honey helps lower the overall heat of these wings and provides a nice balance of flavours. These wings are still plenty spicy with the honey, but without the honey, you’ll really taste the fire.
If this isn’t spicy enough for you, add in 1-2 teaspoons of cayenne pepper. If that’s still not spicy enough for you, puree your spice mix with one whole serrano chilli pepper and a few whole jalapeno peppers.
